I've been with JL for 20 years now starting as a Saturday boy making tea & doing the "bun run". I did a short spell in the workshop but it was obvious I had no mechanical sense & ended up with spare parts after putting things back together! The one thing that has stuck with me though is "lefty loosy righty tighty" so all was not lost!
My family keep me busy in my spare time so I'm never out on a bike as much as I would like but hope to attend more BSB meetings this year as we continue our sponsorship with TAG Triumph in British Supersport & Ben Miller in Triumph Triple Challenge.
Hope to see you soon.
I first started work at JL when I was 15 cleaning the bikes on a Saturday Morning. My full time job started at the tender age of 20 now 15 years on I'm still here & loving it!
Although I have a full bike licenceI don't ride anymore due to having a young son & the housework never seems to get done!
My main hobby is my horse Blaze who I have had for 23 years.
For my sins I do the accounts and other paperwork I'm also everyones best friend on payday!
My first ever pillion ride was on a rigid frame Ariel sitting on a pad on the mudguard - Steve felt pity for me and bought a sprung seat - what bliss!
Graduated to a BSA Goldstar outfit when pregnant - no fun getting in and out of the chair when 9 months gone! The chair was sold & I believe appeared in 'On the Buses'
I enjoy the family, reading, crosswords & belong to a walking group, (we hope to walk the length of the Shakespeare Way during the next few months) I also do volunteer work each week at social group for those who have suffered a stroke.
I've been riding bikes since the last century ( 20th that is!) & have worked on & off with JL since I had hair.
I have worked in & around the bike trade for the last 20 years & have had spells as a salesman, dealership principal, journalist & even managed a motorcycle & car tuning company. I've loved all of it & am proud to be working with Triumph & JL after a break of 7 years.
I like a chat as many of you will attest!
My earliest experience with motorbikes was as a passenger on my grandads Vespa at the age of 9! From that day I've done motocross, drag racing , courier riding & instructing.
I've been with JL on & off since the early '90's after working as a product designer for 7 years. I love the custom/street fighter scene & I think that personalising your bike is a big must!! Bikes aren't my only love, I'm also a middle distance charity runner. so if I'm not blasting around the country side on my Speed Triple 1050 I'm running instead!
I Joined Jack Lilley's in Nov 06' after taking redundancy from a 24 year life sentence in the photocopier industry, so blagging a job like this has been brilliant.
As an apprenticed sixteen year old my daily hack was a Honda C95 but only for eighteen months, then it was cars, marriage, mortgage, kids etc but always had a soft spot for bikes.
I returned to biking in my early 40s with a basket case Honda CB550K3 then a 1200 Bandit and currently ride an awesome Speed Triple.
They say the weather forecast has to be dry and sunny for at least a week before I bring my bike out, I think that's really unfair as I often ride in light cloud.
I have worked in the motorcycle industry since 1996, been at Lilley,s since 2001, five years at Warr's Harley-Davidson before that, and on the Maclaren F1 road car project for two years until it was ended. I started work as an assistant in second hand car sales at the age of nineteen, but got a bit distracted by the glamour of playing guitar in various bands throughout the eighties and nineties, with moderate success ( I still have the embarrassing singles, video and albums) touring France twice on a 10 day gig was the closest I got to the rock and roll lifestyle and very rarely pick it up these days. Riding bikes was always part of my life, such exotic machines as a Suzuki DT80, 750GS, teapot, the ever reliable Honda 100GT that I learnt on, a couple of Ducati's, obviously the whole Harley range, and now Triumph's, owning Trident 900 (with only 102000 miles on the clock), Trophy 900, Daytona 595, and two 675's, I am currently figuring out how I can buy the 675R. Married in October I am now finally grown up and sensible?
My first biking experience was on my uncles Dominator at the ripe old age of 6, it scared the pants off me but I loved it! I got my first moped at 16 ( way back in 1977) a KTM Comet Cross. Since then I have owned over 50 bikes ( mostly bought from JL). My current bike is a Trident 900 which is excellent & has a few modifications! I have worked here now for nearly 5 years & have been a customer for 30, it's a great place to be & no doubt will be here for a long time to come.
I'm a keen fisherman so when not out on the bike I'm relaxing by a lake.
I am into fast cars & bikes ( well anything that goes like stink!!) I first went on the back of a bike age 7 and can honestly say it was the ride of my life! I did motocross in my early teens and had great fun. My ambition is to become a fully qualified mechanic ( so watch this space).
I have only been with JL for just over a year & really enjoy the team & having a laugh!
I've just turned 17 and now learning to drive but I promise to be careful!
I've been a technician at Jack Lilley for 4 years now & I've been fixing bikes in extraordinary places for decades!
A devotee of adventure motorcycle travel I've biked around the world riding in more than 35 countries!
I also enjoy cycling , windsurfing & Jazz music!
With my dad being into bikes, it was inevitable I would to! I've only been riding since 2007 but have been working on bikes from only a year after that. Currently only having a bike licence, my bike is used rain or shine for commuting & fun. having only really ridden on the road I'm now starting to head off-road to. I like both sports & adventure bikes, both of which Triumph now do very well, so one day maybe it could be a Triumph Filled garage!
I've worked with Triumphs' since leaving school at the tender age of 16 & now at the ripe old age of 21 it's all I've ever worked on. My daily commute is a 120 mile round trip on my trusty Daytona 955 beast! ( If you see it you'll know what I mean!) My interests are Tuned cars & bikes & I used to be a keen trials rider until I discovered a fear of heights so going up was OK but not down!!!
Hope to see you when you come in for your service.
My first bike was a PUCH Grand Prix Special (60 on the flat honest Guv!). I started as an apprentice at 16 working on all makes.
My life sentence with Jack Lilleys' started back in 1991 when Triumph relaunched!
I have an obsession with all things racing & currently am a crew member for a 450 BHP Turbo Nitros Superstreet Hyabusa. I am also in the process of building/developing a 9.50 index Triumph Daytona 955i Dragbike.
After surviving 45 years on the planet, I have been fortunate enough to have been a Toolmaker, Cad-Cam specialist, London bike courier, IAM Observer, lover, fighter and an International Man of mystery.
Having covered over 107,000 miles, and counting, on Triumphs in 9 years, namely a TT600, Daytona 955i, Sprint ST 1050 and a Daytona 675, and deciding to dump the car 4 years ago, I can honestly recommend heated clothing, anti-mist visor inserts and service station hot air dryers.
I have also owned an offroad endurance racing C90, a GSXR 600 and more noteably an Italjet 180, which taught me that corrosion was a process you could actually watch.
Personal motto : In battles between tarmac and skin, tarmac has never lost. And draws don't count. Avoid.
